Mary Grace Del Rosso of La Quinta, California, passed away on February 18, 2021, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 94, two months shy of her 95th birthday, and still smiling and sweet natured to the very end. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was blessed with a long and happy marriage to the greatest love of her life, John Del Rosso. They were true life partners who began their life together in when they eloped to Florida, where John was stationed at the start of WWII. John predeceased Mary in 2015 and he as been patiently waiting for his "Pinx" ever since. Mary and John will be resting in peace and raising a glass of red wine again with her beloved parents Michael and Rose Esposito, his parents William Del Rosso and Mary Ross and pop Louis Ross; Mary's siblings Alex, Verda, Lucy and Michael and John's beloved brother William. She will be remembered as a kind and loving Italian mamma and nonna, who was happiest sharing an Italian home-cooked meal with family and friends. You never left her kitchen table without having seconds and a care package of leftovers. Prior to moving to the Coachella Valley to be near to their daughters, Mary and John resided in Torrance, California, in their beloved Amapola home. This was the site of many festive gatherings involving lots of good food, card-playing and much laughter. Mary and John spent their retirement years traveling the US and Canada on many road trips. They knew how to dance and it showed when they went dancing at the Elks Club or the Sons of Italy. Mary also loved spending time at the Torrance Senior Center where she enjoyed tap dancing and yoga and made many friends. Mary is survived by her daughters Toni (Tom) Birkett and Michele (Rod) Murphy; her grandchildren Tamara (Kenneth) Lorenz, John (Gina) Birkett, Jenni (Chuck) LaFleur and Tom (Kendall) Birkett Jr., many great and great grandchildren; and treasured nieces Natalie Miller and Linda Spaulding, and cherished nephews William Del Rosso and Dave Del Rosso. Mary's family would like to extend thanks to her many caregivers who always looked after her with kindness and to her wonderful team at Bristol Hospice, especially Joanne Miller and Liz Gayton. Mary will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her. With many friends and family across the county and due to the pandemic restrictions, we are honoring Mary with this tribute site and a virtual Celebration of Life for Mary and John in the near future.
