In Loving Memory Jere A Bankson August 29, 1932 - August 8, 2023 Born and raised in Los Angeles CA to James G Bankson and Josephine McBride Bankson. Jere served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. Chief Systems Engineer Apollo Service Module Propulsion System. Founded and owned M.R.C. a marine electric import and industrial supply company in 1968. Throughout the years Jere enjoyed many adventures. He enjoyed sailing to Catalina Island and racing sailboats when his kids were little. He loved camping, fishing, skiing, traveling, road trips, and flying with our beloved family dog Tippy - his wingman. He loved his family and had many close friendships. He wasn't shy and could talk to anyone. Jere's sense of humor was legendary and he could keep anyone laughing. He inherited his wonderful sense of humor from his father. Grandpa the comedian. Jere held season tickets to the Padres for over fifty years. He had wonderful seats just above third base. It was always a lot of fun attending the games. Survived by his wife Rosemary Lauzon Bankson, daughters Teresa Bankson, Carrie DeMatteo, son James Bankson, Ex wife Delores Bankson, grandsons Dustin Bankson, Lucas Bankson, Joseph DeMatteo, stepdaughters Sharon Barkman, Ruth Moore and stepson Rick Quevas. Preceded in death by his parents James and Josephine Bankson, sister Barbara Gates, stepson Robert Quevas and also several nieces and nephews. A Poem For Dad In 2018 sadly you lost your sight It's hard to imagine what that must have been like You were very determined to keep up the fight You put on such a brave face and insisted to stay independent and live in your own place But towards the end you had given your best and decided it was time to lie down and get some much needed rest No one really wants to say goodbye But now you have joined loved ones who have been waiting in the beautiful heavens above the sky.
